Profish produces and packages fresh fish at a very high level

With us, the focus is on quality. People who know our company will not be surprised by this. After all, we are constantly producing and packaging fresh fish at a very high level. We have strict requirements and carry out stringent checks in all departments. The origin of raw materials, auxiliary materials and finished products can be fully traced at all times.

We meet the strictest requirements for quality and food safety. We work with an HACCP system and are IFS (higher level) certified. This means we meet the very highest quality standards. We are also certified for MSC, ASC, Global Gap, Skal and RSPO.

Private label fish products

Our customers can opt for products with a completely own look (private label). Our organization is also set up to develop customer-specific articles and thus offer additional added value. In addition to items that we sell throughout the year, we offer seasonal items.

Service items

In addition to developing and producing an extensive range of our own products, we take care of the supply of products from external suppliers. We work closely with them. This may sound somewhat strange, but we strongly believe that it is precisely through cooperation that we can give the fish category a major boost. With our versatile service package, we are also able to provide third-party products with a customer-specific label.

The ASC seal of approval

ASC stands for the Aquaculture Stewardship Council. The ASC manages a label for responsibly farmed fish. It is similar to the MSC label for wild fish, but for farmed species such as salmon, pangasius or tropical shrimp.

The ASC label aims to reduce the negative impact of fish farming. The label has strict rules for less use of antibiotics, more sustainable fish feed and better working conditions for staff. The standards have been set in close consultation with environmental organizations such as the WWF and with farmers, supermarkets and scientists. Fish with the independent ASC seal of approval comes from farms that limit their impact on water, nature and the environment, take good care of employees and are considerate of local residents. By choosing ASC-labeled fish, you can be sure you are buying responsibly farmed fish.

ASC is working closely with suppliers such as Profish Food to both ensure that consumers become more knowledgeable about the ASC label and to increase the availability of ASC certified fish through supermarkets.

The MSC label

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international non-profit organization. Our vision is that oceans will once again be teeming with life and that fish, seafood and shellfish stocks will be safeguarded for this and future generations.

The blue MSC label and certification program recognizes and rewards sustainable fisheries and encourages change in the market and in the water. So as a consumer, you can rest assured that there will be plenty of fish left for generations to come. The MSC label on a seafood product means that:

More than 285 fisheries in over 35 countries are MSC certified. With a combined catch of some 9 million tons around 10% of the global catch is assessed annually against the scientific requirements of the MSC standard for environmentally responsible and sustainable fishing. More than 20,000 unique products worldwide bear the MSC label.

In the Netherlands, almost all retailers have a goal of getting 100% of their wild-caught fish MSC certified. This requires inventiveness and perseverance on the part of suppliers because they can choose from a more limited supply to choose from. MSC is therefore happy to work with Profish Food, which can truly be seen as a driving force of sustainable fish to the Dutch retail sector.
